Gault & Millau Austria 2019 has awarded thirteen toques to restaurants in south-east Styria. Gourmets have recognised the fact that culinary art of the highest level has never lost any traction in Styria. Especially gratifying is the fact that two of Styria’s best restaurants are located in Styria’s Thermal Spa and Volcanic Region!
The chef of one of the restaurants - Harald Irka from Saziani Stubn’n - is the youngest three-toque chef in the history of Gault & Millau, and the chef of the other – Richard Rauch from Steira Wirt – was awarded the title of chef of the year 2015 by Gault & Millau Austria. Styria’s Thermal Spa and Volcanic Region is rich in notable chefs. However, despite their different styles of culinary creativity, they are all united in one thing. Namely, that good cuisine is rooted in the regional products from the south-east area of Styria.
